The brick I made for the exhibition was made during the war in Kharkiv. At the time, it was not possible to kiln ceramics, and Kharkiv was often affected by blackouts. So I decided to make a brick from an old ceramic piece that was at hand. I decided to trim the old piece so that it looked like a brick. However, I did not like the appearance, and the situation with the war influenced the initial idea. I couldn’t help thinking about the Azovstal and all the destroyed cities. And I decided to use old rusted metal that hid fragile ceramics inside. This metal and punctured armor protects the ceramics, just as our military defenders protect Ukraine.
